Prysmian Brazil awarded “Company of the Year” 2008
The Brazilian Prysmian Energy Cables and Systems has been honored by the
Exame Magazine,
the most important political and economical publication of the country, with its "
Company of the Year"
award.
In the 2009 ceremony "
Maiores e Melhiores" – held in San Paulo – Prysmian Brazil was selected for 2008
as
major player in the electro-electronic sector, out of
outstanding companies such as Whirlpool, Electrolux, Samsung, Schneider, Semp-Toshiba, Alcatel,
Ericsson and LG.
Several criteria have been used to compare the companies: the growth of the sales, the
leadership in the market’s segment, the liquidity – as index of the company’s health – the return
on Equity, the added value by the human resources employed.
This award reinforces the
long term success reached by the company in Brazil: Prysmian is supplying
customers with its wide range of products in higher value added market segments – from power
utilities and civil construction to industrial applications – through the energy and
telecommunication business.
Just to mention a few, Prysmian Brazil is strongly committed to meet the needs of the OGP
industry by offering
industrial solutions such as the Umbilical Systems, multifunctional tubing systems
which enable subsea, wellheads and manifolds to be connected to platforms or FPSO's.
Furthermore, the first prototypes lengths of the newly-developed Flexible Pipes have just
been manufactured at Vila Velha plant, which is still under construction and will start full regime
production in 2010. The new plant will complement the existing one dedicated to the production of
Umbilicals, opened in Vila Velha in early 2007.
Present in
Brazil since 1929, with one headquarter (Santo André), seven plants (Santo André,
Sorocaba Energia, Sorocaba Telecom, Sorocaba Fibras Opticas, Jacarei, Vila Velha, Cariacica) and
over 1.060 employees, Prysmian is at present a truly and global company well established in the
country.
